Rio Tinto cuts refined copper guidance as us smelter restart delayed
Rio Tinto on Wednesday cut its full year refined copper guidance after it reported unexpected problems with a smelter at its Kennecott mine in the US would see a restart delayed by two months.
The Anglo-Australian mining giant said it had reduced production guidance to 135,000 – 175,000 tonnes from 165,000-205,000 tonnes previously after the problems emerged post-planned maintenance at the Utah-based facility.
Rio said it was working with customers to limit disruptions to supplies.
