Retailer JD Sports Fashion confirmed it had filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators for its camping unit Go Outdoors as it considered a number of “strategic options” for the chain.

The company on Monday said no administrators had been appointed, but the notice secured a 10-business-day moratorium protecting Go Outdoors from legal action by creditors.

Reports on the weekend said administration was imminent for Go Outdoors, bought for more than £112m four years ago and employees 2,300 people.

"The group can confirm that it has considered a number of strategic options for Go and that Go's directors have lodged the Notice in Court. This notice creates an immediate moratorium around the company and its property which lasts for 10 business days," JD Sports Fashion said on Monday.
