Greencoat UK Wind on Friday said it was buying the Windy Rig and Twentyshilling wind farms from Statkraft UK for £104m.

Construction of the Scottish wind farms is expected to start shortly, with the acquisition targeted to complete in the second quarter of 2021 and third quarter of 2021 respectively, once each farm is fully operational, the company said in a statement.

Windy Rig, with an output of 43.2MW, and Twentyshilling (37.8MW) are subsidy free projects located in Dumfries & Galloway and were originally developed by Element Power, which Statkraft acquired in September 2018.

Statkraft will manage the construction of both wind farms and will provide route-to-market and operational management services.
