The flotation of bakery group Gail's Artisan Bakery has been put off until next year.

Owners of the 17-store cake and pastry chain had, according to the Telegraph, been in discussions with broker FinnCap, although a timetable for the initial public offering (IPO) was not set.

The newspaper said it is believed the decision to delay the IPO came after it was agreed that additional growth was needed in order to generate a satisfactory level of return for shareholders.

The group is set to open its 18th store in Blackheath, south London, within a few weeks.
