Experian has bought US-based MyHealthDirect, a provider of digital care coordination solutions, for an undisclosed sum.

The FTSE 100 credit-checking firm said the business, which has been a supplier to Experian since 2017, provides tools to make it easier for people to access and pay for their healthcare.

The company's SaaS-based digital care coordination platform helps simplify and automate the appointment, scheduling and payment process for healthcare providers and for patients, it said.

Experian said the deal will complement its existing strengths in the financial and administrative segment of US healthcare.

"It represents another step in our strategy to use the power of data to transform the healthcare sector, offering patients increased control, simplicity and transparency," the company said in a statement.

MyHealthDirect will form part of the group's health activities and will be reported within its North America decision analytics segment.

At 1250 BST, the shares were up 1.3% to 2,529p.
