Electra Private Equity posts mixed performances in first quarter

Investment trust Electra Private Equity reported mixed performances against its benchmarks in the first quarter of the year.

The FTSE 250-listed group said its total return for the three months to 30 June was 2% against a 4% for the Morningstar Private Equity Index and a 2% drop for the FTSE All-Share Index.

The share price return for the year to the end of June was 20%, higher than the 18% return on the Morningstar index, the group said on Friday.

"Electra Partners has continued to make progress in implementing its value creation strategies across the portfolio,” said group chairman Roger Yates.

“The board is delighted with the manager's performance and with the prospects for Electra's portfolio."

The firm invested £30m in the period and realised £26m, with £101m of resources currently on its books.

Electra Private shares were down 0.30% to 3,182.31p at 0905 BST on Friday.
