Specialist regeneration developer and investor U+I announced board approval of a sabbatical on Wednesday, for its deputy chief executive Richard Upton, in line with company policy.

The London-listed firm said Upton planned to travel overseas with his family, but would remain in contact with the business “where appropriate”.

It said the sabbatical would begin on 1 September, and end on 31 December this year.

“Day-to-day our regeneration team will continue to be led by regeneration director Simon Hesketh, who is responsible for all of U+I's regeneration projects, including the iconic, former London Fire Brigade headquarters at 8 Albert Embankment, Mayfield in Manchester and Preston Barracks and Circus Street in Brighton,” the U+I board explained in its statement.
