Daily Mail and General Trust has appointed Tim Collier as its new group chief financial officer with effect from 2 May.

This follows the resignation of Stephen Daintith, as announced back in September.

Collier joins the company from Thomson Reuters, where he is currently the CFO of the financial and risk business.

Daily Mail owner Lord Rothermere said: "We are very pleased to have Tim join us. His range of skills and experience working within an international organisation with a focus on data, content and analytics are highly complementary to DMGT's global businesses.

"In particular, his prior roles working for portfolio companies in B2B information, events and media sectors with a significant US presence are aligned with DMGT's businesses and overall group focus. He has a strong track record of delivery in a number of key areas, not just finance and treasury but also oversight of investment activities, M&A and restructuring and internal audit, which are all key to DMGT's strategic approach."

At 0900 BST, the shares were down 0.9% to 705.50p.
