Global medical technology company ConvaTec Group announced the US launch of ‘Foam Lite’ ConvaTec dressing on Wednesday, which it described as a light, flexible silicone foam dressing for managing low to non-exuding chronic and acute wounds.

The FTSE 100 firm said the US launch of ‘Foam Lite’ dressing continued its expansion into large, growing segments of advanced wound care, beginning with the successful launch of ‘AQUACEL’ foam dressing into the $1.2bn foam market, and most recently with the European launch of the ‘Avelle’ negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system into the fast-growing disposable segment of the NPWT market.

‘Foam Lite’ ConvaTec dressing is a thin, flexible foam dressing developed specifically for managing low to non-exuding wounds, such as skin abrasions, skin tears and partial thickness burns, which do not require the absorbency of regular foam dressings, ConvaTec’s board explained.

The new dressing complemented its range of ‘AQUACEL’ foam dressings for moderately exuding wounds.

“ConvaTec is committed to providing wound specialists with a broad range of advanced foam dressings for managing a wide variety of patients' wounds and offering simple solutions to the wound management challenges that they see every day," said vice president and general manager of ConvaTec Advanced Wound Care, Fiona Adam.

“We have had a very positive response from customers in Europe where we initially launched ‘Foam Lite’ ConvaTec dressing last year, and we look forward to developing more advanced products and solutions that can help our customers protect fragile skin, defend against infection and help their patients resume their daily lives.”
