Support service solutions provider Capita has been selected by NHS England as preferred bidder to establish a four- year framework, worth up to £1bn.

Under the framework, which will provide administrative support functions for primary care across the UK, including an initial contract to manage and deliver services in England, the initial seven to 10 year contract for Capita will be worth approximately £400m.

The FTSE 100 group said the deal will see it deliver administrative support services for primary care in England, while achieving ”significant” savings for NHS England.

“Capita will introduce a common set of services, processes and standards to improve the quality, reliability and sustainability of administration support services,” the company said in a statement on Monday.

Capita shares were up 1.46% to 1,250.00p at 09:54 on Monday.
