Wealth management group Brooks Macdonald has appointed Andrew Sheperd as its deputy chief executive.

The appointment follows the company's decision to create the new role to broaden its senior management team as it has seen significant growth since its initial public offering in 2005.

Sheperd was a director of the group and his duties as joint managing director of Brooks Macdonald Asset Management Limited will be taken by Nick Holmes.

Chief executive Chris Macdonald said Sheperd has been a "core part of the group's management team for the last seven years" and his appointment will provide him with more time to focus on delivering the group's growth ambitions.
