Blackbird shares jumped after the cloud video editing company recruited tech heavyweight John Honeycutt as a non-executive director.

Honeycutt has joined Blackbird's board with immediate effect. He has worked at Google, Discovery Communications, Fox Cable Networks and Liberty Media.

He worked at Fox for eight years before working at Discovy for 16 years until 2019. After working for Google on media, entertainment and gaming projects he set up his own advisory firm, Sandy Valley. Blackbird said his experience spanned strategy, mergers and acquisitions and large projects.

Blackbird shares rose 11.4% to 18.38p at 13:28 BST. The shares are up from 17p at the start of 2020 and have more than doubled from 7.25p on 23 March.

Andrew Bentley, Blackbird's chairman, said: "John has an exceptional track record of achievement across our sector. He brings knowledge, experience and connectivity to global players and will make a valuable contribution to the future of Blackbird."
