Aerospace and defence company Babcock has appointed Executive Committee member Jon Hall to the newly-created role of chief innovation & technology officer, with effect from 2 November.

Hall was previously managing director of technology at the group, responsible for a number of technology-led businesses in addition to leading Babcock’s technology strategy.

Babcock said the new role "will enable him to focus entirely on driving innovation, technology application and development and knowledge-sharing across the group".

Chief executive David Lockwood said: "We want a culture of innovation and collaboration to thrive in every part of our business. The combination of innovative practical ideas, increased collaboration and the application of technology from a wide range of sources will allow us to build new and better solutions for our customers."
