Admiral appoints Annette Court as new chair

Annette Court will take over as chair of insurance giant Admiral Group effective from April 2017.

Court will replace current chairman Alastair Lyons, who will stand down from the position after 16 years. She was appointed as a director on the company's board in 2012, having also served as chief executive at Direct Line and RBS Group.

"I am delighted to have Annette take the chair at Admiral," Lyons said. "She has been a strong contributor to the board over the five years she has been a director and has chaired our remuneration committee sensitively and effectively."

"She both understands the industry extremely well given her executive experience and also what makes Admiral different, underpinning our success. I wish her and all my colleagues the very best for the future."

Court described it as an "honour" to become chair of Admiral.
