Barclays fixes online banking glitch

Barclays said on Thursday that its customers were experiencing problems logging into mobile, telephone and digital banking in the latest in a series of online bank failures for British high street lenders.

“We are having a few issues but the team is on the job to get this fixed,” the bank told customers on Twitter early on Thursday morning.

At 10am, Barclays announced the issues had been resolved with a spokesperson saying: "We apologise to any customers that experienced difficulty accessing banking services this morning. The issue has now been resolved."

Barclays is not the first to experience glitches in its online systems. Lloyds Bank on Monday said it had resolved problems in its digital banking services that had lasted 24 hours.

Although customers said that they were experiencing difficulties logging into their accounts, Lloyds assured it was only occurring to its customers and not the group’s Halifax and Bank of Scotland brands.

Last year outages hit the banking sector including banks such as TSB, Barclays, RBS, HSBC and Visa which has led to their online business being under increased scrutiny.
