Hipgnosis buys Jimmy Iovine catalogue

Hipgnosis Songs Fund said it had bought the music and film soundtrack catalogue of record producer Jimmy Iovine for an undisclosed sum.

The catalogue is made up of 259 songs and his film production royalties for '8 Mile' and 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

Iovine started as an engineer working with John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen, before producing’s Patti Smith's critically acclaimed album 'Easter'.

He also produced Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Dire Straits, Stevie Nicks, U2 and The Pretenders.
