Jose Mourinho, the current manager of Manchester United football club, has been accused of tax fraud in Spain relating to his time as coach of Real Madrid.

The Portuguese managed Los Galacticos between 2010 and 2013, with tax authorities in Madrid investigating Mourinho’s tax behaviour between 2011 and 2012.

Mourinho is accused of defrauding taxpayers in the country of €3.3m, and the investigation follows a similar allegation against compatriot and current Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is the subject of a lawsuit from prosecutors over an alleged fraud of the tax system to the tune of €14.7m.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi was convicted of major tax fraud in 2016 and sentenced to 21 months in prison, but will not serve the term due to a law in Spain which allows sentences of less than two years to be served under probation.

Mourinho took over as manager of Manchester's Red Devils last year following a second stint at Chelsea, while he has also spent time in charge of Portuguese outfit Porto and Italian giant Inter Milan.
