Islamic State releases new hostage video of British reporter, John Cantile

Former war reporter, John Cantile, was featured in Islamic State’s latest video promising to expose the “truth behind the Islamic State”.

Cantile was captured by Islamic State in Syria, in November 2012. In the video, he claims he has been “abandoned by his government” and therefore has “nothing to lose” in exposing the truth behind the political motivations of western governments in their fight to eradicate the Islamist militant group.

The ex-journalist also pledged to reveal the “manipulated truths” reported by western media agencies in subsequent video instalments, which will be released shortly.

This is the latest hostage video released after President Barack Obama and other world leaders joined an international coalition pledging to destroy Islamic State. The US, having already conducted airstrikes on the militant group in Iraq, is now poised to continue its offensive in Syria.
