Greece expects bailout deal by 18 August as stock exchange falls for second day

Greek government spokeswoman Olga Gerovasili on Tuesday said the country expected to conclude a bailout deal with its international creditors by 18 August, with the drafting of the accord starting on Wednesday.

"The first phase of negotiations ends today and the second phase starts, which really contains the details of drafting (the deal)," Gerovasili told Greece's Skai TV station.

The Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) lost 1.34% to 659.10 at 11:15 BST on Tuesday, with banks leading the drop. Piraeus Bank lost 30% to €0.20, and Bank of Greece tumbled 22.45% to €7.60.

The ASE reopened on Monday after five weeks remaining shut. Its benchmark gauge slid 16% after trading on the Athens Stock Exchange resumed, registering its lowest level since September 2012.


The Athens Stock Exchange said 58 stocks were halted on Monday.

Greek stocks have lost 85 % of their value since 2007.
