More than $1bn in cryptocurrency payments have passed through Visa cards in the first half of 2021, the payments infrastructure company has revealed.

"The figures highlight the growing adoption of cryptoassets as a payment solution," note analysts at eToro. Visa is now partnering with more than 50 cryptocurrency-related companies to encourage payments via Visa cards.

On the US news channel 'CNBC', Visa CFO Vasant Prabhu commented that “today, the value of crypto assets in regulated digital wallets is in the hundreds of billions. For the tens of millions of people who use these platforms, one of the easiest ways to spend crypto is through a Visa card. "

"We are partnering with 50 of the major cryptocurrency platforms on card programs that make it easy to convert and spend digital currency at 70 million merchants around the world," he added.

"Visa and Mastercard are helping a lot" with the implementation of cryptocurrencies, says Naeem Aslam, an analyst at AvaTrade. "Their goal is to make the use of digital assets more practical and user-friendly," he adds.
