Volkswagen has recalled 56,000 model Golf 8 cars to fix software problems affecting the infotainment system and reversing camera, the company said on Tuesday.

The fix is for vehicles belonging to the most recent Golf 8 series that were made until July 2020, a spokesman said.

The recall is not mandatory, the spokesman added, but rather a “voluntary service measure”.

Volkswagen was forced to postpone the launch of the Golf 8 in 2020 due to software problems.

The German carmakers’ shares were down 1.6% on Tuesday morning, making it the biggest percentage loser in Germany’s blue-chip DAX index.
