United Airlines adds flights to Europe as countries reopen

United Airlines Holdings said on Monday that it was adding three flights to destinations in Europe from July as countries start reopening to vaccinated travelers.

The airline said in a statement that it would add direct flights to Croatia, Greece and Iceland, the bookings for which have already begun, reported Reuters.

The rollout of the European Union's vaccination programme was a breath of fresh air for airlines and a tourism sector in general that has been hit the hardest by the pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns around the world.

Customers travelling with United Airlines can upload their Covid-19 testing and vaccine documents to get them certified ahead of the check-in.

United, which is slated to report earnings on Monday after markets close in New York, said earlier in April that it was expecting a 66% drop in first-quarter revenue to $3.2bn from the same period in 2019. It had previously forecast a drop of between 65% and 70%.
