A group of hackers named REvil reportedly stole and published product blueprints from Apple’s supplier Quanta Computer and were holding other blueprints under $50m ransom.

The hackers reportedly published design details for a new MacBook on 20 April, even as Apple was holding a product event for new products, Bloomberg reported.

If true that the hackers had the files, it could see some of Apple’s hardware plans made public before the company was ready to announce them.

Quanta confirmed an attack to Bloomberg and said it was working with law enforcement. The company added that there was no material impact on the company’s business operation.
