European aerospace giant Airbus is set to clinch a multi-billion pound order from Indian budget carrier IndiGo.

According to Bloomberg, which cited people familiar with the matter, Indigo was close to ordering 300 A320 jets, including for its longest-range jets of the XLR variant, for a list price of approximately £23.3bn. ($30.0bn).

Indigo had already ordered more than 500 aircraft from Airbus and had become the largest customer for the A320neo, following a rapid expansion since its founding in 2005 that had seen it make away with nearly half its local market.

Separately, Reuters, which first reported on the potential transaction, had put the value of the potential order at $33.0bn citing the most recent 2018 list prices, although discounts were often offered to clients.

As of 1415 GMT, shares of Airbus were trading higher by 1.67% to €126.76.
