Stock in Airbus started 2020 on the front foot in the wake of reports that it was on track to meet the top end of its internal forecast for aircraft deliveries.

At the weekend, Bloomberg reported that the jetmaker's deliveries were now expected to come in around 560 with the final tally expected later during the same week.

Such a result would be a far cry from the 863 deliveries made in 2019, but would still help buttress the company's results in a year during which Covid-19 has hammered demand globally.

Meeting the target would also likely be a better-than-expected outcome than what so-called buy-side analysts had penciled-in, Morgan Stanley analyst Andrew Humphrey told the newswire.

As of 1531 GMT, shares of Airbus were up by 1.21% to $90.87 but off their intraday high at $94.57.
