Westminster Group Foundation has launched an Ebola crisis appeal in West Africa in order to “try and alleviate some of the suffering caused by the outbreak”.

The charity is part of Westminster Group, whose operations and share price have been affected by the Ebola virus.

The security group saw several airlines suspending their flights into the airport whose security is managed by the group, including Gambia Bird which was forced to suspend its services earlier this month.

It said whilst the UK is “now providing much needed aid and assistance” in the countries affected by the outbreak, there is still “much more” that needs to be done as the scale of the problem is “huge”.

Chief executive Peter Fowler has said at the time: "The Ebola outbreak in West Africa continues to be tragic for all those affected and economically damaging for the countries concerned.

“However it is hoped that, given the extensive international aid and efforts now being deployed by the international community together with the exhaustive efforts of the local governments, this outbreak will be brought under control.”

Westminster Group Foundation is appealing donations in the form of monetary gifts, clothing, blankets or non-perishable food.
