Counter-terrorism officers from the Metropolitan Police arrested two people in West London on Thursday night on suspicion of preparing terrorism acts.

A 24-year old man and a 23-year old woman, believed to be friends, were arrested at 19:30 BST overnight in Reading. Two addresses related to the arrested individuals were also searched by officers.

Both arrests were made under terrorism legislation, which gives officers 48 hours to charge, release or apply for a warrant for further detention.
