Week ahead: PM´s speech, Trump inauguration in focus

All eyes will undoubtedly be on the Prime Minister´s speech on 17 January in which she is expected to provide more details on her approach in the upcoming Brexit negotiations and on her objectives.

It has yet to be confirmed but reports indicate that a document may also be released alongside her speech.

Against that backdrop, investors would be treated to the latest consumer price data in Britain, on that same day, followed by the latest unemployment data on Wednesday and the monthly official retail sales report on Friday.

In the States, the spotlight was expected to be on President-elect Donald Trump´s inauguration on 20 January and his accompanying speech.

On the data front, the latest US CPI and industrial production figures, on Wednesday, would be the main risk events.

To take note of, US markets will be closed for trading on 16 January, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
