Week ahead: Korea tensions, China, UK data in focus
The flow of data from all the main economic regions is set to ramp-up this week, especially in the UK and China.
At home, throughout the week ONS is set to release the latest readings for consumer prices, unemployment and retail sales, starting from Tuesday.
Previously, on Monday, figures on fixed asset investment, industrial production and retail sales in Asia's largest economy are expected.
During the week, China is also expected to publish its latest money supply data.
Yet for economists at Barclays the key release will be the minutes from the European Central Bank's last rate-setting meeting, on Thursday, as some participants in financial markets continue to hope for a shift in the monetary authority's policy bias at one of its upcoming meetngs.
Nevertheless, concerns surrounding the geopolitical tensions in the Far East were still very much on their mind.
In a research note sent to clients, Barclays noted: "China net capital account outflows have collapsed in H1 while FX reserves have increased for six consecutive months.
"However, the recent escalation of tensions in the Far East, should they persist, could cast a shadow on financial market stability and global growth in H2."
Back in the US, traders will be waiting on the minutes of the US central bank's last policy meeting as well.
In terms of data, the key releases would be the latest retail sales figures on Tuesday, followed by the Federal Reserve bank of Philadelphia's manufacturing sector gauge on Thursday and a preliminary reading on the University of Michigan's US consumer confidence gauge for August, on Friday.
