Week ahead: June UK industrial production data in the spotlight

The flow of data is set to ease over the coming week, with the main reference for UK markets being Thursday's industrial production report.

Analysts at Credit Suisse expect ONS to report that industrial output was ahead by one tenth of a percentage point on the month in June.

In order for the initial estimate of British second quarter gross domestic product to be revised down from the advance estimate of 0.3% to 0.2%, industrial production would need to show a fall of 0.6%, the Swiss broker pointed out.

Acting as a backdrop, traders will also be keeping close tabs on the latest US CPI print due out at the end of week, on Friday.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is expected to say that the headline rate of consumer price inflation in the States picked up from a 1.6% year-on-year clip in June to 1.8% for July.

At the 'core' level on the other hand, they are expected to be unchanged at a 1.7% rate of increase.

Also in the spotlight, national-level data on industrial output in the euro area's main economies are set for release on Thursday.

Japanese machinery order data are scheduled for the same day.

Rounding out the week, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand is scheduled to decide on monetary policy on Wednesday.
