Week ahead: Christmas, jobless claims, festive AGMs
Next week, with Christmas on Tuesday, will be very quiet.
On Monday, Christmas Eve, London Stock Exchange will close at 1230 GMT and then will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, the LSE is open for the usual hours but is likely to be quiet.
On the Continent, Euronext and some markets like Madrid, open for half a half day on Monday and are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, before opening for the rest of the week. Frankfurt's Xetra is shut on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
There was an earnest year-end message from research analyst Lukman Otunuga at FXTM.
"While market activity is expected to drop significantly next week ahead of the upcoming Christmas holiday break, investors should remain diligent," he said. "With the economic calendar virtually void of Tier 1 economic reports, there could be some semblance of stability just before the New Year."
