Week ahead: Brexit vote, ECB and Chinese data in the spotlight

All eyes over the coming week will be on Tuesday's vote in Parliament on the Prime Minister's amended Brexit deal.

Ahead of that, on Monday the Office for National Statistics will publish industrial production and foreign trade data covering the month of November.

Then on Tuesday morning, ONS will release the October employment report.

Across the Channel, the flow of data will be back-end loaded, with the European Central Bank set to meet to decide on interest rates on Thursday, followed by 'flash' readings for the widely-followed from IHS Markit euro area manufacturing and services sector Purchasing Managers Indices for December due the next day.

To take note of, rate-setters in Switzerland and Norway are also due to meet on Thursday.

The week will also see a raft of economic data out of China, including factory gate and consumer prices for November on Sunday, 9 December, and readings for retail sales, industrial production and fixed asset investment on Friday.

Stateside meanwhile, the focus will be on the latest readings for inflation, with data due out on Wednesday expected to reveal a dip in the headline year-on-year rate of consumer prices slipping from 2.5% for October to 2.1% in November, due to the drag from the recent decline in oil prices.

On Friday meanwhile, investors will be waiting on figures for US retail sales and industrial production.

Also at the end of the week, the Bank of Japan will publish the results of its Tankan business confidence survey for December.
