Glencore director backs company to the tune of nearly half a million pounds

Glencore nearly bounced to pre-slump levels on Thursday, and director John Mack showed investors he’s still backing the mining company.

Shares in the FTSE 100-listed company dropped dramatically on Monday after Investec warned the stock holds little value for shareholders.

But John Mack is putting nearly half a million pounds on the line after purchasing 550,000 shares as it looks to bounce back.

Also betting on a healthy return was Stewart Kenny, non-executive director and co-founder of Paddy Power, who picked up €287,277 worth of shares.

The biggest director sale of the day was Access Intelligence chairman Michael Jackson´s, who sold five million of his nearly 26m shareholding to pay for an accelerated payment notice from HMRC over his personal tax affairs.

And with it being the start of a new quarter, a number of directors were awarded shares as part of incentive schemes, including directors of GlaxoSmithKline and Park Group. However, a number of Park Group directors cashed in part or all of their allocation.
