Directors dealing: Zambeef director get skin in the game after chicken deal

The purchase of some Zambeef shares by director Graham Clark helped lift the shares in the Zambian food producer back to near a two-year high.

Non-executive director Clark, a 30-year veteran of the food and agriculture sector in sub-Saharan Africa who was appointed in March, bought his first 1m shares at a price of 15.19p each.

The purchase on Wednesday, which sent the shares back up to 16.1p on Thursday, follows the $65m fundraising last month, where Zambeef issued new ordinary shares and convertible redeemable preference shares to CDC Group, the UK’s government's wholly owned development finance institution focused on investing in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

Zambeef was therefore able to purchase remaining equity stakes in both Zamhatch and Zam Chick, refinance a significant amount of debt and provide extra working capital to accelerate the roll out of a new outlet store.
