Director dealings: Severn Trent's Christine Hodgson buys shares

Severn Trent revealed on Monday that chairwoman-designate Christine Hodgson had purchased 2,020 ordinary shares in the FTSE 100-listed utilities firm.

Hodgson, who joined the water utility as a non-executive director on 1 January, acquired the shares on Monday at an average price of 2,500p each, for a total value of £50,500.

She will succeed Andrew Duff in April.

Back in November, Severn Trent reported a drop in interim profit as infrastructure costs offset an increase in revenue, though the company still raised its dividend.

The FTSE 100-listed outfit booked a profit before tax of £180.7m for the six months ended 30 September, which was down by 11.0% on the same period last year.

Even so, the utility company hiked its half-year dividend by 7.0% to 40.03p per share.

As of 1630 GMT, Severn Trent shares were down 1.33% at 2,491.45p.
