Director dealings: Renishaw CEO ups stake

Renishaw revealed on Friday that chief executive William Lee had acquired 900 ordinary shares in the FTSE 250-listed engineering company.

Lee, who took over as chief executive officer in February 2018, purchased the shares on Thursday at an average price of 3,327p each, for a total value of £29,943.

Back in January, Renishaw warned that full-year profit was set to fall as it posted a drop in interim profit and revenue amid "challenging" trading conditions.

In the six months to 31 December, revenue declined 13% to £259.4m while adjusted pre-tax profit slumped to £14.3m from £59.6m in the same period a year ago. Renishaw pointed to a challenging backdrop due to the global macroeconomic environment and ongoing uncertainty caused by the trade war between the US and China, as well as weaker demand in the machine tool sector.

As of 1500 GMT, Renishaw shares were down 4.94% at 3,168.77p.
