Director dealings: Partner of BT chairman collects 200,000 shares in telecoms giant

Magdalena du Plessis, the wife of BT chairman Jan du Plessis, picked up 200,000 ordinary shares in the telecommunications giant on Tuesday at a cost of £2.52 each.

The purchase, which held a total value of £504,000, came shortly after Credit Suisse cut its target price and earnings estimates on BT due to the increasing cost associated to its Openreach programme.

However, BT remained confident, announcing it would not cut its dividend despite the overwhelming concerns and a 10% drop in the firm's troubled global services arm in its second quarter.

Non-executive director Nick Rose also purchased 100,000 shares in BT on Tuesday at a cost of £2.51 each, or £251,000 in total.

As of 1650 GMT, shares had dropped back 1.51% to 248.50p.
