Director dealings: New Costain chairman makes first purchase

Costain's newly appointed chairman Paul Golby purchased more than £111,000 worth of shares in the engineer on the day it released strong first-half trading update.

Golby, formerly chief executive and chairman of big-six energy provider E.On, bought 35,000 shares at a price of 317.44p per share.

Costain said trading during the first half has been strong and that it was on course to deliver an annual result in line with expectations.

A record order book of £3.9bn is also over 5% higher than a year ago, with repeat orders continuing to represent more than 90% of the order book.

The group also has a preferred bidder position of over £400m and tendering levels remain high.
