Director dealings: Ian Sutcliffe lowers stake in Ashtead

Ian Sutcliffe, a senior independent non-executive director at rental company Ashtead, disposed of 24,500 ordinary shares in the firm on Monday.

Sutcliffe, who is also the chief executive of Countryside Properties, sold the shares at an average price of 2,389p each for a total value of £585,304.99.

Back in June, Ashtead appointed Paul Walker as a non-executive director and chairman designate, succeeding Chris Cole.

The company had already announced that Cole, who has been chairman since 2007, will step down at the annual general meeting on 11 September, which is when Walker will assume the role.

Ashtead also posted a 20% improvement in revenue to £3.71bn when revealing its final results on 19 June, with rental revenue rising 21% to £3.42bn.

The FTSE 100 firm said its pre-tax profit was £927m in the year to 30 April, up from £793m a year earlier, with earnings per share 26% higher at 127.5p.

Its post-tax profit was £969m, almost double the £501m it reported in the 2017 financial year.

As of 1615 BST, Ashtead shares had dipped 0.17% to 2,389p.
