Wednesday preview: China and US factory PMIs, German CPI in the spotlight

Investors' attention at the start of March was likely to be on a raft of factory sector surveys from several of the world's largest economies covering the month of February.

First out, overnight, would be two surveys on China's manufacturing sector.

Later in the day, at 1500 GMT, the results of the US Institute for Supply Management's factory survey also held the potential to move financial markets.

Other data points due out in the States included figures for construction spending in January, also at 1500 GMT, and for February vehicle sales.

In the euro area meanwhile, barring surprises, the market spotlight could arguably be expected to be on preliminary consumer price data for February in Germany.

The country's Ministry of Finance was due to publish those figures at 1300 GMT.

On home shores, at 0700 Nationwide was to publish its House Price Index for February.

It would be followed at 0930 GMT by UK consumer credit data for January from the Office for National Statistics.

In parallel, S&P Global would release a final reading for its UK factory Purchasing Managers' Index.

Also set for release in Asia were South Korean export figures for February.
