Tuesday preview: US jobs market, Paragon Banking Group in focus

America's jobs market will be in focus again on Tuesday as the National Federation of Independent Business releases its small business optimism index.

That will be followed at 1500 BST by the Department of Labor's JOLTS labour market survey.

Across the Channel, the ZEW institute will release the results of its economic confidence survey for June at 1000 BST.

A reading on German industrial production is also due out, at 0700 BST.

No major economic releases are scheduled in the UK.

Further afield, investors in Japan will be waiting on a raft of economic data, including a second reading on first quarter gross domestic product growth and balance of payments numbers for April.

For Paragon Banking Group's first half financials, UBS analyst Jason Napier has penciled-in profits before tax of £70.7m for a common equity tier one ratio of 14.6%.

The lender's net interest margins meanwhile were seen 10 basis points higher on the half at 2.28%, but unchanged in comparison to the year-earlier period.

Net interest income was expected to drive topline growth of 5% versus the preceding six months, alongside a 4% rise in costs and a 5% increase in provisions.

Loan loss charges for the latest six-month period were pegged to come in at £14.7m.
