Tuesday preview: G7 leaders' meeting, German GDP in focus

Financial markets' focus on Tuesday may be on the geopolitical for a change, as G7 leaders meet to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.

Against that backdrop, no major economic releases are scheduled in the UK.

Stateside, the Department of Commerce will release a reading on new home sales in July.

Across the Channel, before the opening bell, Germany's Federal Office of Statistics will publish a final reading on the economy's rate of growth in the second quarter.

At 1330 BST, European Central Bank executive board member, Isabel Schnabel, is due to deliver a speech at the virtual EEA-ESEM conference.
