Thursday preview: UK and euro area PMIs, Jet2 in focus

Investors' attention on Thursday will be on a spate of survey results covering conditions in the manufacturing and services sectors in the UK and euro area during the month of November.

At 0930 GMT S&P Global will release its survey findings for the UK with activity in services expected to have shrunk again - albeit only marginally.

Activity in UK factories on the other hand was expected to have continued to decline noticeably.

Surveys for the euro area due out at 0900 GMT were expected to tell a slightly more negative story.

US financial markets would remain closed in observance of Thanksgiving Day.

On the corporate side of things, Jet2 is scheduled to release its first half numbers close on the heels of record profits at rival RyanAir.

Another peer, EasyJet, had also just announced that it had moved back into the black over the preceding six months.

The shares had recovered from their July tumble, when it announced the retirement of its chairman, Philip Meeson, even as it shied away from providing full-year guidance.

Yet the outlook remained "promising", according to Michael Hewson, chief market analysts at CMC Markets UK.

Seat capacity had risen last summer and revenues for the first half were estimated to have reached £4.4bn, against £3.57bn one year before, while pre-tax income was pegged at £613, against £450m the last time around.

Passengers carried were expected to have risen to 11.95m although the load factor was estimated to have fallen from 90.7% to 85.8%.
