Friday preview: US consumer confidence, global manufacturing in focus

The market spotlight at the end of the week will be on a barrage of economic data out in the States.

Included among those will be a final reading on the University of Michigan's consumer confidence index for September.

Also due out is the Institute for Supply Management's closely-followed purchasing managers' index for US manufacturing covering that same month.

Investors will also be keeping an eye out for any policy relevant remarks from Philly Fed boss, Patrick Harker, and his oppossite number at the Cleveland Fed, Loretta Mester, at 1600 BST and 1800 BST, respectively.

Manufacturing will also be in focus on this side of the Pond on Friday with 'final' survey results for September due out in both the UK and euro area.

In the case of the Eurozone, those will be supplemented by a preliminary estimate for consumer prices across the currency bloc, also in September.

Further afield, in Japan, the country's central bank is due to release its well-known Tankan business confidence survey for the third quarter.
