Friday preview: Services PMIs, Fed and ECB speakers in focus

All eyes at the end of the week were expected to be on a raft of services sector Purchasing Managers' indices for February covering activity in the US, China, UK and euro area.

In the case of the US Institute for Supply Management's PMI, consensus was for a dip from 55.2 for January to 54.5 last month.

A spate of Fed speakers was also scheduled, including the Dallas Fed's Lorie Logan at 1600 GMT, followed by Atlanta Fed chief Raphael Bostic at 1700 GMT and Fed Governor Michelle Bowman at 2000 GMT.

An equivalent survey for the UK at 0930 GMT was expected to confirm that activity in that same sector bounced back handily last month.

In the euro area, services sector PMI figures at 1000 GMT aside, euro area producer price figures for January were also scheduled for release.

Investors would likely also be keeping an eye out for any policy relevant remarks in a speech from the European Central Bank's number two, Luis de Guindos, at 0830 GMT.

Overnight, investors in Japanese markets would be digesting core consumer price data for Tokyo in the month of February and unemployment/jobs-applicants numbers for January.
