Friday preview: Mortgage approvals the highlight on otherwise dull day

Unsurprisingly, there isn’t a whole going on this Friday, with the City still very much a ghost town as traders and the like continue to enjoy the festive period.

There is nothing of note due to happen on the corporate front aside from a few EGMs and AGMs, but on the macroeconomic calendar, BBA mortgage approvals for November are out at 0930 GMT.

The US will be a little busier, meanwhile, with wholesale inventories and the goods trade balance at 1330 GMT. At 1445 GMT, the Chicago purchasing managers’ index is due, while pending home sales and new home sales are at 1500 GMT.
