Friday preview: All eyes on Westminster

The market spotlight will continue to be squarely on Parliament on Friday, with MPs expected to vote on the Prime Minister's withdrawal agreement alone, possibly at 1430 GMT.

That is to say, lawmakers will not be asked to vet the political declaration, possibly allowing the government to secure Brexit, circumvent the objections of the Speaker of the House to a third vote on the Theresa May's proposed deal and clinch an extension of Article 50 until 22 May in order to sort out the paperwork that was left, all in one motion.

But it was not clear if Parliament would sill need to approve the political declaration at a later date or if the law could be changed so that it was no longer needed.

As of Thursday evening, it appeared that May did not have enough support in order to carry the day, but such a scenario could not yet be ruled out.
