Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn accuse Prime Minister Theresa May of running a “zombie government” as he demanded her resignation ahead of a no-confidence vote on Wednesday night.

His attack came after May suffered the biggest defeat in British parliamentary history on Tuesday as MPs issued a withering assessment of her Brexit deal.

It also emerged on Wednesday that May had snubbed Corbyn, excluding him from talks on how to break the Brexit impasse, despite a pledge after her defeat to speak to “senior parliamentarians” from all sides.

At the start of the debate on the no-confidence motion, Corbyn said the government "should do the right thing and resign".

Corbyn has support from the SNP, Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru and Green Party.

However, he faces an uphill task in trying to unseat May. Her own rebels and the 10 Democratic Unionist MPs, the same people who humiliated her less than 24 hours ago, have pledged loyalty, making a defeat unlikely.
