Young & Co's appoints former SABMiller exec as new CFO

Young & Co's Brewery has appointed former SABMiller executive Mike Owen as its new chief financial officer.

Owen has more than 10 years' experience in the drinks and pub sector and joins the company from family-owned pub group and brewer Hall & Woodhouse, where he has been group finance and IT director since 2016.

Prior to that, he spent eight years at SABMiller, initially as the finance director at Miller Brands and then as the head of European and then Global Deployment in the global business services division.

Owen will take up the new role and join the board on 9 September. Meanwhile, Daniel Quint will stay on as interim CFO at least until the annual general meeting in July.

Chairman Stephen Goodyear said: "Following an extensive search, we are delighted that Mike is joining the Young’s team. He has an intimate knowledge of the industry and will bring a fresh perspective to the finance function, as we continue the development of our market-leading premium operation.

"I would like to thank Daniel for the dedication he has shown in his role as interim CFO and we are pleased that he has agreed to continue to be part of the team for a while longer."

At 1515 BST, the shares were up 1.1% at 1,767.75p.
