British pub landlord Young & Co named former Fuller's managing director Simon Dodd as its chief operating officer on Thursday.

Dodd, who will join Young's board on 2 September, had already spent more than a decade working in the pub and brewing sector, heading up Fuller's beer company, and having previously been operations director of its premium city pubs division before leaving the group following its sale to Asahi in April 2019.

Prior to joining Fuller's, Dodd was at the Orchid Pub Company where he held the role of chief operating officer following his promotion from the position of commercial director.

Chief executive Patrick Dardis said: "I am delighted that we have been able to attract someone of Simon's calibre and experience to take on this new role.

"I am confident that the extensive experience, knowledge and relevant skills that Simon has built up over his career will make a significant and positive difference to Young's."

As of 0830 BST, Young's shares were untraded at 1,600p.
